This was my second shoot with Joanna… Are you seeing a theme here? So many of my clients are repeat clients! I photographed her a few years back before her wedding, and then again after her first baby. We had the best time and her wardrobe pieces were AMAZING! She treated herself to some beautiful lingerie from Gooseberry and a fun body chain that photographed beautifully.
Here is what Joanna had to say about her shoot:
What made you decide to do a boudoir session? Please describe how you came to the decision and what finally made you take the leap! First session: I was getting married and wanted something different to give my husband for a gift. You helped me create the best album! Second session: after my first baby I wasn’t feeling great about my new body. So I bought myself a session on Black Friday to incentivize myself to lose the weight. I treated myself to All the pictures in the beautiful glass case!
What made you decide to hire me as your photographer? I was referred by my sister at first, but came back because I loved how encouraging and positive you are and I felt at ease having little to nothing on in front of a stranger because of that.
How were you feeling before your shoot? Any thoughts going through your head? I was nervous before my shoot because I never loved my body. I felt like my body was not the typical one you would think of as sexy and I couldn’t imagine feeling that way in these pictures.
Now that you've had your own photo shoot, how was it? Amazing! Every woman should be able to look at themselves and feel the way I felt viewing my photos. I honestly couldn’t believe I could looked as beautiful as I did.
How did you feel about having your hair and makeup done? Thrilled! I could have never done my makeup as beautiful as she did. I didn’t have to be specific, just showed her a vibe I wanted and she went with it.
If this was for a gift, what did your significant other say about your photos? Did they have a favorite pose or outfit? We have pictures of my husband flipping through my album, with the biggest smile on his face! He loved seeing these pictures, especially because they were so out of my comfort zone!
What would you say to someone thinking about doing a boudoir session? Even if you are nervous, do it! The second you interact with Dawn, all that nerves and fear go out the window. She puts you at ease and you feel like you’re sitting with a life-long friend. When you get your pictures back, you can’t believe they are you! Sometimes as a young bride or a new mom, you get so caught up in the chaos of your life that you forget to do something for yourself. My pictures were the biggest confidence booster. I keep them on my nightstand and look at them every single night to remind myself that even on my hard days, I’m still beautiful.
Is there anything that we could have done better to make your experience perfect? Honestly, everything WAS perfect and I had all the information needed in your prep emails.
