Bohemian Boudoir Styled Shoot

Every so often I need to let off some creative steam.  Hours of looking at Pinterest, Anthropologie catalogs, and some of my favorite photography blogs always seems to give me an itch to shoot something just for fun.  So back in February in the middle of what seemed like the 100th snow storm, I was day dreaming about spring and all the pretty things that come with it.   I knew that i wanted something bohemian, something a little different than the clean simple images I usually shoot, so I enlisted the help of my talented sister and stylish friends to pull off this bohemian boudoir styled shoot.  Kelley is the owner of Not2Shabby Vintage and Kathy the co-owner of Harris & Tweed Interiors.  Both of these ladies helped put my vision for this shoot right before my eyes.  Within a matter of hours, my studio was transformed into a little gypsy heaven.  I also decided to transform what is normally my office into a little shooting space because good light is terrible to waste.  And of course,  Shannon transformed Mandy (not a model, just a regular girl) into a goddess.  I am totally in love with the images I captured and the details are to die for!  Thank you to all of the ladies for helping to bring my vision for this shoot to fruition.

A Glamour Shoot at Our New Studio

Every once in a while I get an urge to do something different.  I like a challenge.  I like to learn.  I like to grow.  I've definitely learned that if I am going to grow, I need to try new things. Learning to shoot and find my groove in a new studio after being in the same place for the last 4 years is definitely a challenge.   When I first learned to shoot glamour and boudoir photos using strobes and other sources of artificial light, and only recently have I found a style of shooting with natural light that I love.  I was dying to experiment with some beautiful portraits with a clean, classic look rather than the same old Victoria's Secret push up bras and crazy backgrounds.  So I dug around on Pinterest for a couple of weeks for some inspiration and pulled it together.  Using a few vintage slips I found at an amazing shop in Rhode Island this summer and busting out my sewing machine to make a tutu, everything started coming together. Carlee came to the shoot with some simple wardrobe items and Shannon blew it way with her hair and makeup skills.  Determined to shoot with only natural light and a couple of white reflectors, I can't believe how amazing these images came out.  I am so grateful to Carlee and Shannon for helping me to execute my vision and for allowing me to "just do my thing." PS... There are still 2 more sets of images from this shoot I have to share!  Stay tuned.
